Hantavirus

Disease is common throughout the world and can spread at a fast rate. It is spread very often by animals other than humans and is often spread through person to person or animal to person contact. The small deer mouse can infect a human with a disease named the Hantavirus from the family Bunyaviridae. Hantavirus is a deadly disease that has shocking causes, dangerous effects and also has preventions and treatments. The causes of Hantavirus are shocking. Hantavirus starts when a contaminated deer mouse’s droppings or nest are inhaled. The disease is also not contagious because it is only spread by the deer mouse. Once the disease is inhaled it goes straight to the lungs or kidneys and infects them. A person that contracts this disease will not know that they are infected until the effects of the disease are almost in its worst stages. Therefore, immediate medical attention needs to be given to the infected person. Hantavirus is caused by the deer mouse which then leads into some very deadly effects. The disease enters the body and targets the respiratory or urinary systems. The disease goes into the lungs or kidneys which are vital organs in anyone’s body. As a fact, half of all patients treated with Hantavirus in the U. S have survived the disease. Other effects include kidney failure, lung failure, and rapid shallow breathing. The effects of Hantavirus are killer but there are preventions and treatments for it. At this time, there is no cure for the lungs but the kidneys are easier to treat. The doctors will try to use oxygen therapy for the lungs to help the patients breathing. Any person can prevent the Hantavirus by setting mouse traps or by simply calling an exterminator for a check of your house. In conclusion Hantavirus has shocking causes, effects that may lead to death and has preventions and treatments. Hantavirus is a deadly disease caused by a small deer mouse. This treatable disease has also been the cause of some deaths around America. The disease was first seen in the United States in a village called Four Corners Arizona in 1993. Hantavirus may be part of the reason why many people have a phobia of mice.

Why Do Some States Engage In War This Has Been A Crucial

Why do some states engage in war? This has been a crucial question for humanity as well as for many international relations scholars that study the relationship between states and how they coexist in the international context. Throughout history, many influential thinkers have come up with theories to explain the nature of the international system and the behavior of states. Liberal theories such as the democratic peace theory argue that war can be justifiable if it represents the establishment of a democratic government, which would then represent a collective good for the international system. On the other hand, realist theories including structural realism believe that a state should engage in war if it means the expansion or†¦show more content†¦Another early realist Thomas Hobbes emphasized in the competition among states, arguing that â€Å"without order imposed by the state, humans naturally struggle against one another, driven by competition and in search of gloryâ € (ShiraevZubok, 2016, pp. 44). These first thoughts are what is considered classical realism, which later developed into neo-realism also called structural realism, with the arguments of the American political scientist Kenneth Neal Waltz. Although Waltz accepted the early realist approach, he believed that the nature of the international system and power were the main determinants of the state s behavior. Since the international system is anarchic, there is not a legal entity that dictates how a state should act or an entity that can assure a state s safetyIf a state has the capabilities to pursue greater power, it has the ability to do so at any given time. This positions all states in a place of uncertainty where security can only be achieved by relying on the imposition of its power. Since many states lack the capabilities or power to be perceived as a potential threat, these states would seek alliances with other states which have been already established as international powers and can provide them with a greater sense of security against other powerful states. Serial Killers Serial killers have struck fear in the hearts of people, yet the public remains fascinated and intrigued by the crimes perpetrated by these individuals. Also included in the list of natural factors are mental illnesses without psychosis such as ADD and ADHD, alcoholism, epilepsy, and an inordinate sexual drive (201). Personality disorders are considered to be inherent to an individual and are therefore considered to be a part of an individual’s natural environment; personality disorders include being antisocial, psychopathic, schizoid, sadistic, paranoid, and/or impulsive-aggressive (201). Stone identifies nurture factors as parental physical/sexual/verbal abuse, parental abandonment and/or neglect, the loss of a parent, absence of a father, separation and/or divorce of the parental unit before the child is 16, and brain disease or damage (20 1). The International War On Drugs - 976 Words

The answer is quite simple: the international war on drugs has been all but successful. Regardless how overwhelming the combative forces against illegal drug trade may be, the combination of a non-authoritative state with powerful and wealthy organized crime syndicates result in overall weak state efficacy. This rise in drug trafficking, along with an increase in local drug production and consumption, is a major challenge in the pursuit of peace, stability and security. The current drug situations in Africa reveal the weak capacities of African state. Only in late January did Ghana’s Vice-President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur launch the West Africa Commission on Drugs. The commission plans to examine the different ways of combating drug trafficking – by extension its effects. As valiant as the state intentions may be, these actions have been enforced much too late. Because the proliferation of drug trafficking was a result of the limited education and unemployment of the African people, illegal drug use and drug trafficking has, unfortunately, become an ingrained part of people’s lives. More specifically, the lack of employment opportunities and reliable income have essentially channeled Africa’s youth towards involvement in the drug trade and drug use itself. Even when taken out of an African backdrop, any desperate person could, potentially, turn to drug use, as drugs offer a means of escaping the harsh realities of everyday life. Nordsee †the Different Fast Food Restaurant Free Essays

The Different Fast- Food Restaurant (Case Study for Marketing Course) [pic] MK 300 Michaela Ouzka F03 B April 27, 2005 Summarizing the Facts: As Slovakia becomes an integrated European country, it is increasingly involved in globalization. As a result, many foreign citizens, Slovak business people, and professionals come especially to Bratislava for investment or for other reasons and obviously, as they spend more time in town, there is a higher demand for good quality restaurants.Nordsee is a non- traditional fast food restaurant; it offers quality sea food with self- service. We will write a custom essay sample on Nordsee – the Different Fast Food Restaurant or any similar topic only for you Order Now Moreover, a part of the restaurant is a snack-bar for the busier people or for students and there also exists a sea-food store with delicate and fresh sea specialties for the more demanding customers. Nordsee is a German company which was established in 1896. Originally, it was a small firm that consisted of 7 steam boats and was fishing all kinds of sea-food in order to sell it in its own store as fresh as possible. Nowadays, this company is Europe’s No. sea-food restaurant with stores all over Germany (364 restaurants combined with snack-bars and stores), Austria and Switzerland due to its 100 years of know-how, its technology, and its outstanding product quality. State the Problem/ Opportunity: Other fast-food chains have already entered the Slovak market and did very well, as for instance McDonald’s or Pizza Hut. However, Nordsee differs a lot from these traditional high-sugar, high-fat burgers and low-carb pizzas. Its meals are very healthy, tasty, and even suitable for vegetarians. It these days, more and more people care about their weight and their lifestyle, and Nordsee can certainly help to reduce the people’s weight and to stay in shape. The main dishes in the restaurant are for instance salmon, shrimps, and many different kinds of sea-fishes, squid or lobster for attractive prices combined with salads, potatoes or soups and sauces. Slovakia represents a good opportunity for Nordsee to expand to Eastern Europe. It provides low labor-cost and a still rather open market. The target market would be students (snack-bar), labor, professionals or business people (self-service restaurant), and the gourmets (store). The probably biggest problem would be the relatively high prices for the top-quality sea food and the competition from other already existing fast food restaurants. Analyze the Causes of the Problems: †¢ Problem No. 1: Relatively High Prices of the Products This is certainly true if we are speaking about top-quality lobster or salmon. But there are also other, cheaper products in the self-service store or in the snack-bar, as a part of a restaurant. As you can see there is a wide range of many different products and therefore of many pricing levels from cheap to affordable, but of top quality. An average salmon sandwich with salad and a tasty herb-sauce would probably cost just as much as a high-fat McRoyal. Which one would you chose? †¢ Problem No. 2: Competition Obviously there are already fast-food restaurants or baguetterias, but they offer almost no variety and they are incomparable with a Nordsee restaurant, as you sit down in a nice atmosphere and you eat the dishes with knife and fork, and not with your bare hands. You can also have a special fish-soup or a salad with shrimps if you chose to. It is a self-service restaurant; therefore, it wouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to eat a full meal. It would be completely innovative and that is why there would be no real competition in that sense. Of course it would be necessary to open such a store in some shopping center or in the city center of Bratislava where there are many potential customers located. Alternative Solutions: 1.Nordsee opens its own store in Bratislava and if it approves, other stores can be opened in Banska Bystrica or Kosice. Strenghts: Over 100 years of know-how, technology, excellent product quality Weaknesses: It is a German company and it does not completely know how to operate in Eastern Europe (lack of knowledge and experience) Opportunities: Number 1 self-service restaurant with sea-food in Slovakia Threats: Competition, too high prices for Slovak market 2. FranchisingStrenghts: Low risk-taking for Nordsee, other Slovak entrepreneurs invest their money and have better know-how of their domestic market Weaknesses: Nordsee has to provide them with their technology, their expertise and product supplying Opportunities: Nordsee receives payment from Slovak entrepreneurs and without much risk-taking it can become leading fast-food restaurant Threats: Entrepreneurs can stay profitless, Nordsee Company may have therefore damaged reputation, it can no more expand successfully on its own to other Eastern European countries . Slovak entrepreneurs open a similar store with other brand name on their own Strenghts: They do not have to pay Nordsee for franchising; they do not have to obey the standards and orders from Nordsee (independence) Weaknesses: They might not have the required equipment and know-how Opportunities: Opening a similar store but with a different product line and therefore a different, eventually lower pricing Threats: Competition from other, already existing fast-food chains, which are more organized and already experienced Recommended SolutionFranchising would probably be the most suitable choice in order to successfully expand to Slovakia. It would be inevitable to go to Nordsee headquarter in Germany to have a negotiation with the suitable persons to ask for a lice nse to distribute their products and to receive their technology for the preparation of their food. After their agreement, it is necessary to pay for this license and for the equipment for the stores, as they are standardized and are therefore almost identical in every location. This would be called â€Å"niche-marketing†, as there is no other sea-food self-service restaurant in Slovakia yet.Justification and Evaluation: Franchising would be the most effective choice, as I have worked out the 4 P’s (marketing mix): †¢ Product: Sea-food (fish specialties, shrimps, soups, salads, etc. ) †¢ Price: In a similar range as already existing fast-food restaurants in Slovakia (e. g. McDonald’s) †¢ Promotion: Advertising through TV-spots (depending on the extent of the promotion budget), billboards, flyers, free samples in the stores within the first week of the opening, newspapers, magazines, fitness centers, etc. Place: Bratislava’s city center, shopping malls, etc. (eventually Banska Bystrica and Kosice) To sum up, Nordsee has an enormous potential in Eastern Europe, especially Slovakia through franchising. It is evident that it would certainly do quite well under such conditions especially in Bratislava. There are still no, or just very few, good restaurants with high-quality food where you can eat within a few minutes. There would also be special offerings for small children with an exceptional dish with a little toy (such as the â€Å"Happy Meal† in McDonald’s stores). As you can see, the potential market is wide-spread and I am positive that Nordsee would definitely be a good alternative to all the fat pizzas and burgers that we all weekly consume with disregard to our health. How to cite Nordsee – the Different Fast Food Restaurant, Essays

What is happening? : With the help of the camera work, the feel of the argument was well created. Place at which the scene is taking place: On the free land People involved: Thelma and Louise and Earl The camera work of the film is worth noticeable as the director has chosen and used the particular aspect brilliantly in each of the scenes. With the help of the effective camera work, the director has successfully depicted the theme and its implication on modern life. In the first scene, the camera work has been used for giving the effect of Mis-en-scene in order to convey the various moods, feelings, and the situations to the audiences regarding each of the characters. In order to accomplish that successfully, the director has used varied angles. As per the reason that the particular scene is one of the significant scenes of the movie, the effect of Mis-en-scene has been used. With the help of this technique, the director has efficiently managed to make a strong effect on the minds of the audience regarding the long lasting relationship between the two characters. Through a proper camera angle, the chosen first scene shows that two of the protagonists are taking photo with each oth er. Most significantly, numerous camera angles were used for giving the Mis-en-scene effect as per the moods, situations, and feelings. Along with this, the strength of the women is clearly pictured. The long lasting situation of the relation has been well evaluated while rediscovering the strength of friendship among both (Zeeb, Buchner Schrauf, 2016). On the other hand, film technique lighting has been used with efficiency in the first scene. The foremost thing that has been displayed in the movie with the help of lighting is the costume of Thelma and Louise. In the first scene, both of them have been wearing the makeup with a lady like attire. With this lighting, the freedom and space feeling is created along with the feel of staying away for the reality (Zeeb, Buchner Schrauf, 2016). Most significantly, with the element of symbols and motifs, which has been a significant part of the cinematography, the director has depicted varied significant aspects of the theme. During the s tart of the journey, the symbol of friendship has been determined by being together. Instead of enclosing just in the parking area that is surrounded by cars, it was shot on the open road having free space. Finally, with the element of defining the characters, the relationships with other male characters are illustrated. Most significantly, with the help of the particular element, in the first scene the challenges of the gender portrayals are described. The camera technique applied in the second scene has helped to show the strength of the women for self-defense. More precisely, the camera work has helped the director in giving the idea of how the two women got into the crime spree (Finkel Hirsch, 2015). On the other hand, with the intensive shooting of the situation of blowing up the Earls truck by Thelma and Louise has been shot. However, with the help of the element of lighting, the grim reality of the city has been depicted. Moreover, the lighting helped in showing the loss of makeup messy hair and the masculine body during the truck scene. Thus, it can be said that a feeling of powerfulness and control is created by lighting in the particular scene. With element three, the idea of rescuing is shown in the particular scene. Further, the idea of justice in the scene of truck driver has been explained. However, with the technique or element of defining characters, control over the situation by creating justice on own has been show n. It can be said that the element has helped to indicate that the truck scene is turned out to be a classic drama and the men stereotypes are well evaluated, After having a brief discourse about the technical aspects, which have been used throughout the movie in order to prominently depict the theme, it should be contemplated here that each of the techniques applied by the director has helped to create a deep influence in the minds of the audiences. The use of camera in the first scene has created s specific mood for the audience, whereas the camera work in the second chosen scene has given the idea of how both the women got into the crime spree during their journey. However, the first scene is significant more as the strength of friendship has been rediscovered in the scene by the camera work. On the other hand, while the lighting element has only helped to signify the costume of the two protagonists, the use of lighting has been pursue more prominently in the second chosen scene. It is because, in the truck scene, a feeling of power and control has been created when Thelma stands up with the gun to shot. In the truck scene, the lighting was of the high key when compared with that of the introduction scene of beginning the journey. Nevertheless, the use of symbol in the first scene has been a symbol of friendship, which is determined by being together. However, in the truck scene more of long and mid shots have been a great deal when compared with that of the start of the journey where most of the shots have been a great contrast with either being close or mid(Meyer et al., 2018). For instance, the space that has been noticed in the truck scene will be representing the freedom and space that they have by leaving the cities. No longer they are surrounded with phallic symbols. Finally, it is to contemplate that the element of defining characters in the first scene shown the adventures and the challenges faced by them by controlling the situation. In the truck scene it is the lead characters who have led the driver to the places where they wanted to take. Also in the two scenes, the way Thelma and Louise reacted was found to be highly different (Meyer et al., 2018). Most importantly, in the first scene, Louise cou rageously shoots the men who were trying to attack Thelma. In the second scene, the strength is confined to the situations and tries to provide justice to themselves on their own. Both the women have represented a symbol of masculinity in the truck scene. Conclusion In the current paper, the media analysis of the movie Thelma and Louise based on two scenes such as the first scene is when Thelma and Louise get ready for the Journey and the second scene is when Thelma and Louise blow up Earl's truck have been discussed. With the help of each of the techniques, the director has successfully portrayed the theme of the movie. However, it has been identified that use of element like symbols, lightning and the act of defining characters have been pursued more prominently in the second scene. Nevertheless, two characters Thelma and Louise together have given the film the plot that is recognizable easily and the action-packed entertainment, which has run simultaneously with the delicate but reflective transformation of the characters. Hence, not the action that has taken place in the film has given the impact to the movie but also the self-empowerment, the strength, the structure of the situations, transition of the characters, etc. have added the value from their own end in order to make the story successful at each plot References Finkel, M., Hirsch, M.
